A Little History...

With the surprise resignation of the previous administration after nearly 20 years comes the chance to rebuild from the ashes a new and improved, more focused 2010 scheme. There had been too much work put into the organisation over the years for it to just disappear from the landscape of Llanelli.

2010 brought a new decade and new challenges for everyone. With the economy in the last throes of the recession (so they tell us) and the weather being at its most brutal for many years, a group of people have decided to continue with the work of the Neighbourhood Watch scheme that has been ongoing for quite a few years.

Friday 29th January saw the start of what is hoped to be a new and fruitful relationship with our local policing teams, a fresh initiative to take the safety for communities message and distribute across the wards of Llanelli with the ultimate aim of making our streets, parks, homes and public areas less vulnerable to unsocial activities. Let's hope that success is measured by a better quality of life in all the wards that the Neighbourhood Policing Team covers.
The aim of the new scheme is to educate and support via presentations and community events the residents of the areas covered by the scheme. This is planned by visiting schools and holding public meetings within the various wards to spread the message that crime in its many guises is anti social and the need to protect residents’ material things and safety is important.
